Café Design – Melbourne Airport
This café is designed as a calm, nature-inspired retreat within one of the busiest environments in Melbourne. The interior pairs warm timber tones with soft greenery and gentle lighting to create a space that feels grounded, welcoming and visually refreshing for travellers.
Soft curves and natural textures shape the design language—timber battens, muted stone surfaces and lush planting work together to soften the architecture and create a sense of warmth. Large expanses of green-accented joinery and vertical foliage introduce a subtle biophilic layer, bringing balance to the otherwise high-energy airport setting.
LThe seating layout is intentionally flexible, supporting everything from quick solo meals to relaxed dining. A mix of timber chairs, upholstered banquettes and communal tables creates a comfortable rhythm throughout the space, while generous spacing ensures ease of movement for guests with luggage.
Branding is integrated with restraint, allowing the natural material palette and soft ambient lighting to take the lead. The service counter is designed with clean lines and warm detailing, ensuring clarity and efficiency without compromising on aesthetic coherence.
Overall, the design delivers a calm, considered dining experience—one that feels warm, modern and effortlessly accessible, offering travellers a moment of ease and comfort before their journey..
